Let’s Celebrate National Bike Month! 

The morning air is fresh and the skies are blue, so dust off your bike and join us to celebrate National Bike Month! 

Okay…yes…its just an excuse to ride our bikes, but why not?  We love central Oregon and there is so much outdoor goodness to soak up, so LET”S GO!

Check out these great biking experiences for the month of May.  Enjoy the Central Oregon spring air, win prizes, log that daily exercise and be healthy!   

The entire Month of May CCOTM & PRINEVILLE CROOK COUNTY CHAMBER will be collecting bike routes.  Map your favorite bike ride in Crook County and submit it to Crook County On the Move.  Your route might be featured on the upcoming Biking in Crook County maps and you’ll be entered in a drawing for a prize!

The entire Month of May GOOD BIKE CO will offer tax relief!  For every bike purchased from Good Bike during the Month of May, GBC will pay the bike tax for you.  

May 5, 12, 19 and 26th CROOKED RIVER BREWING hosts Cruiser Bike Rides – 420 N Main Street at 6:00 pm.  Join the cruising fun on a group ride.  For a bonus, email a picture to CCOTM and enter the prize drawing.  If your photo is selected, it will be highlighted on our social media and website!

May 1st – 8:00 am CENTRAL OREGON TRAIL ALLIANCE (COTA) and GOOD BIKE CO will be hosting the Chamber Perk at Good Bike Co– 284 NE 3rd Street.  Ride your bike down to the Good Bike Co shop, have some coffee, put your business card in the bucket for the drawing and learn what COTA and Good Bike Co have in store for your summer biking.

May 9th – 10 am to 1 pm COTA will organize a community volunteer opportunity to experience trail building on the Lower 66 biking/walking trails network.  Meet these great folks at the parking lot of Ochoco ViewPoint and help create an amazing network of trails for our town.

May 9th – 10 am to 2 pm Celebrate Mother’s Day at the CROOK COUNTY ON THE MOVE Community Garden Event at the Presbyterian Church – 1771 NW Madras Hwy.  Learn about gardening, preparing healthy food, and staying active.  There’s fun for the whole family, including the PRINEVILLE POLICE booth where your child can learn about bike safety and get a chance to win a bike helmet.

May 14th – 5:30 to 7 pm CROOK COUNTY FOUNDATION presents “What’s Brewing?” at Meadow Lakes Golf Course Banquet Room. Crook County is a welcoming community to those who bike and and we are excited to have many opportunities for on-road and off-road biking. Attend this session to learn what COTA, and other local entities, have been working on to increase access to trails throughout Crook County.

Watch for this – CENTRAL OREGONIAN will be featuring unique stories of biking in Crook County at part of our Bike Month Celebration.

We’ll be having so much fun, we stretched the activites a bit and are going into June!

June 13th – CROOK COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION hosts a Grit Clinic. There will be three Clinics – (1) Youth, (2) Ladies only Fundamentals, and (3) Intermediate Co-Ed. Each clinic offered has a cap of 7 people per clinic, so you’ll want to sign up early – and the first 10 people will be entered into a drawing for a prize!
