Help Shape the Future of Ochoco Preserve
Do you have a passion for birding and a desire to contribute to local conservation? The Deschutes Land Trust is looking for dedicated volunteers to join their 2026 Bird Survey team, and their next site orientation is just around the corner!
On Thursday, April 16th, from 9:00am–11:00am, Deschutes Land Trust will host a field orientation at Ochoco Preserve in Prineville. This hands-on training is the final step for volunteers interested in monitoring bird populations at the Preserve. During the session, you will hike 1–2 miles to familiarize yourselves with specific survey routes, property boundaries, and the unique habitats currently being restored along the Crooked River.
The data volunteers collect is vital. By tracking which species are returning to the land, Deschutes Land Trust can measure the success of their restoration efforts and make informed decisions for the future of the Preserve.
