Our walking group program will begin on April 1st and go through June. Walks will be 20-30 minutes long. Distance will vary depending on pace. We have fun, make new friends and experience new things together! You must register to participate, but there is no cost to join.

So why not join us! A daily brisk walk has been touted as “the closest thing we have to a wonder drug!

First, let’s get registered, by clicking the ‘Register Here’ button below. Once you register, choose a group from below with a walking pace and schedule that best suits you or walk with them all!

Once Registered, log your minutes walking minutes with the button below. For every minutes you log, five cents is donated to help families in Crook County struggling with the impacts of cancer, increase preventative measures and battle this devasting disease. We currently have $2000 pledged toward this campaign…help us by logging your minutes!


HOSTED and NON-HOSTED WALKING GROUP OPTIONS – SPRING 2025

Our Spring 2025 hosted groups are listed below by Team Name – Days of Week – Start Time – Host – Meet Up Location – Route & surfaces. Groups will start walking at the time designated, so please show up a few minutes early.

  • Un-de-feet-ablesTues & Thurs @ 5:30 pm -Rod & Donna – Starbucks Parking Lot off Combs Flat Road – Longer walks, usually about 3 miles – Sidewalks/Paved Trails/Short Hills, occasionally multi-surface (if going to Barnes Butte Area).
  • Booking’ ItWed & Fri @ 10 am – CC Library Staff – Library East Parking Lot – About a mile on sidewalks in a beautiful neighborhood.
  • JabberWalkiesTues & Thurs @ 9 am – Carol & Kristi -at Harwood Park in the north parking lot – Walking Ochoco Creek Paved Trail – Older Adult friendly, handicap accessible, benches available along trail to rest. Distance varies based on abilities.
  • Busy Beavers – Mon and Weds @ 9 am – Shawna – OSU Extension Office parking lot, 498 SE Lynn Blvd – Looped walk around internal fairgrounds road. Gravel and paved surface, uneven at times. Very minimal traffic and loop can be walked multiple times.
  • P.O.R.K. (Prineville Oregon Running Club) – Sundays @ 8:30 am – Brent – Starbucks Parking Lot – This is a great group of people. Don’t be intimidated by the name, they welcome walkers too! Routes vary, typically concrete sidewalks/paved trails with occasional grass and gravel. Usually 2 to 3 mile distance.
  • Wild & Free – Maybe the hosted groups above don’t work for your busy schedule?

Walking on your own or in a non-hosted group? Print our map of 1, 2 and 3 mile routes in the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods to get ideas for new routes.

GROUP EXPERIENCES

In addition to the weekly group walks, attend these events to earn additional challenge minutes.

  • Healing Hearts Walking Event – join the St Charles Hospice, Bereavement and Transitions staff as they lead conversation on to deal with difficult life changes. We’ll meet in the Healing Garden at the north end of St Charles Prineville hospital building.

  • Benefit walks to help our community
    • May 31st at 4 pm – A Time of Hope – an community cancer awareness walk and gathering – the untimed walk is free, but registration is required for the walk. Donations will support resources that provide assistance to Crook County residents impacted by cancer in Crook County.
